Housing Improvement

- Improving living conditions -

Bio-construction and permaculture are techniques that help us to minimise the environmental and ecological impact caused by human beings. The techniques used help to make better use of the natural resources available.
In the Esperanza Chisón community, San Pedro Carchá, A.V., ancestral construction techniques have been applied, making use of local materials such as wood, earth and stones, combined with modern construction materials.
También se han implementado técnicas como recolección de agua pluvial, manejo de desechos sólidos, baño compostero con descarga de agua y  humedales para el tratamiento de las aguas negras y grises.

Improving the quality of life - Bioconstruction and permaculture

Improving the quality of life of our grandmothers is very important to us, as they do not have the necessary economic resources to sustain themselves. The bio-construction project helps grandmother Cata to live in a better living condition without damaging her environment, using ancestral building materials and permaculture techniques in her new home.

BIOCONSTRUCCIÓN - SANITARIOS CON DESCARGA DE AGUA.

In Guatemala, a high percentage of households do not have basic services such as electricity, drainage, water, health, among others. Currently, the National Institute of Statistics -INE- of Guatemala recognises that, in 2018, 32.2% of households only have a latrine or cesspit that is used as a sanitary service.

Sanitary pits, as they are commonly known, are spaces where families perform their needs (showering, defecating or urinating), which are not safe for health as they accumulate odours, mosquitoes and animals that can harm their health.

Maya Guatemala, as an initiative that seeks to improve the quality of life of its beneficiaries, has implemented a project for the construction of toilets, the main characteristic of which is the implementation of bio-construction techniques for their structure, using materials such as stone, wood and earth. It also implements the construction of wetlands that help to purify solid waste, giving them a second chance so that they can be used again.
